Deer Duck Bistro

We recently completed a commission piece for a new restaurant in Brisbane on Milton Road called the Deer Duck Bistro. Here's a link to an article about it. It's quite a cool place with a great menu and interesting interior, we were working with a space in between the two separated dining rooms which gives it a bit of a St Kilda feel. There is going to be a bar downstairs when renovation is complete which will hopefully coincide with working with another larger wall we will be working with out the back.

Synergy

As the walls are absorbing more and more colour they are evolving into something more than the sum of the parts. Being surrounded by everyone's work is really makes walking around in the house an interesting experience. Every time I go inside I find something new that I'm not sure was there the day before or not.

Owls and Dominoes

This house is old, like 1880 old, and at the later end of its life. We are injecting one last burst of life and colour into a house that has seen many things and experienced so much. Who knows how much longer it will be around but for now it is taking on a new identity filled with expression. We started off by vaguely allocating walls for each of us but as we go the pieces are merging into each other creating sort of an unplanned collaboration. We all have very different styles and mediums which creates interesting contrast and outcomes.

We've just uploaded a few more pics to give an idea of how it is getting along now. There has been interest from a few people that want to contribute - will post updates shortly. 

More paint!

A week in and we've run out of paint, need to pay a visit to the guys @ Rehab. I've uploaded a few more images and a bit of video - Not good quality yet will get the Go Pro sorted and start with some HD video. We've gotten a bit of interest from artists that would like to take part, please send an email if you're keen and we'll see what we can do.

Day One

Last week we never would have thought that we would be given access to a whole house to paint as we please, this is such a great opportunity. I took a few photos of the place before we did any work to keep a bit of an idea of what it looked liked before we started and will continue to take photos and video as we go. With the help of a few friends our goal is to film each piece as it goes up and upload the video here and all images here. Who knows how long this project will last but this place is going to get interesting!
